91爆料 student Andrew Pierre ’25聽is studying in the School of Education. He chose to enroll in the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program because he wanted to learn the pedagogical skills needed to help students learning English as a new language be successful in the classroom.
Andrew indicated that he decided to study at St. Thomas Aquinas because of the knowledge the program would afford him: 鈥渢he MST program helped me develop pedagogical skills on how to run classrooms effectively and how to establish positive relationships with students.鈥
As a future biology teacher, Andrew recognizes the importance of meeting the needs of a diverse school population. Andrew is a long-term member of the St. Thomas Aquinas community, and as an undergraduate, he served as Student Body President. The support he received from his peers really moved him, and he recalls: 鈥淎s I went up to the podium to deliver a speech one day, the whole student body started clapping for me.鈥 As Student Body President, Andrew was able to build on the leadership skills he had already developed as Chief Officer of the Science Club, and Class Secretary.聽Andrew is expected to graduate in May of 2025.
